The MobiliTraIN network gathered at BOKU in Vienna for its second MobiliTraINing Days. Over three days, the project’s Doctoral Candidates, supervisors, work package leaders and other network members combined scientific exchange with training on open science, technology transfer and laboratory accreditation.
From Open Science to Technology Transfer
The event opened with a session on open science and research reproducibility delivered by Gabriela Miechtner and Lena Menjivar from the BOKU Research Data Management Team. This was followed by a collaborative activity linked to the MobiliTraIN Hours, giving participants an opportunity to consider how open science principles can be applied across the network.
The second day focused on the pathway from research to practical application. Valentin Just from BOKU Technology Transfer and Manuel Orasch from BOKU:BASE introduced intellectual property management and knowledge transfer from a university perspective. Simon Penker from Akkreditierung Austria then provided an introduction to laboratory accreditation and its relevance in research and analytical practice.
Sharing Scientific Progress
On the final day, the MobiliTraIN Doctoral Candidates presented their latest research progress and discussed emerging results, methodological challenges and next steps. The presentations were followed by feedback from the leaders of WP3–WP6, a Management Board meeting and joint planning for the network’s participation in IMSC 2026.
These exchanges supported collaboration across the MobiliTraIN research areas and helped align upcoming scientific activities and outputs. The network currently comprises 13 Doctoral Candidates hosted across its participating institutions.
Science, Culture and Networking
Next to the scientific and training programme, participants connected informally during a group dinner and a guided visit to Vienna’s Museum of Applied Arts (MAK). The social programme offered further opportunities to strengthen relationships across the network while exploring Vienna’s cultural heritage.
