Welcome to the “Broadening Research Horizons: MobiliTraIN Secondments” series, where MobiliTraIN Doctoral Candidates (DCs) share their secondment experiences across different research environments. This series talks about how mobility contributes to skills development, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary training for young researchers.
Mathew Bejoy at Uppsala University
Mathew Bejoy (DC11) has completed his secondment at Uppsala University in Sweden under the supervision of Erik Marklund.
During this time, Mathew swapped his mass spectrometer for a supercomputer, diving into advanced gas-phase molecular dynamics simulations. These simulations will provide atomistic insight into CCS changes during temperature and inter-instrumental calibrations.
The secondment also included a fruitful collaboration with fellow MobiliTraIN doctoral researcher Stijn De Schepper, increasing the interplay of computational and experimental workflows across projects in the network. Collaboration even extended beyond project boundaries, as the Marklund group hosted Hendrik Krolle of the SPIDoc’s MSCA Doctoral Network at the same time.
