22 – 24 September 2025 | University of Antwerp
Following the Introduction Days in Geneva, the MobiliTraIN network met in Antwerp for its first formal Training Days. Doctoral Candidates, supervisors and industry partners gathered to share research progress, align expectations and strengthen collaboration across the program.
Scientific Presentations and Collaboration Planning
Across two days, the DCs presented their research progress, describing analytical approaches, preliminary results and planned methodologies. Each presentation prompted open discussion on technical challenges, workflow decisions and next research steps, and the exchanges generated new ideas for the DCs to consider and integrate into their projects. A dedicated session allowed DCs and PIs to coordinate upcoming deliverables and identify opportunities for joint work across institutions and work packages.
Training on Chemical Risk Evaluation
The final day focused on a training module on evaluating risks of organic chemicals for human and environmental health. The session covered exposure science, contaminant behavior, method validation and key toxicology principles, followed by applied group work. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Bruno Le Bizec and Dr. Gaud Dervilly, the DCs carried out simplified chemical risk assessments and presented their conclusions in a simulated regulatory setting.
Building the Network
Alongside the scientific program, participants also had time to connect informally, including a visit to the historic De Koninck Brewery, which supported team building and further exchange beyond the meeting room.
Looking Ahead
This meeting marked the shift from introductory onboarding to hands-on research within the network, with first results already emerging. The coming months will bring further training and joint activities as we move toward the next MobiliTraIN meeting in Vienna.
Thank you to all participants and to our host, Prof. Adrian Covaci, for organising the program. We look forward to continued collaboration and steady scientific progress in the year ahead.
