Welcome to the “Broadening Research Horizons: MobiliTraIN Secondments” series, where MobiliTraIN Doctoral Candidates (DCs) share their secondment experiences across different research environments. This series talks about how mobility contributes to skills development, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary training for young researchers.
Marta Callegari at Bruker
October 2025 – December 2025
Marta Callegari (DC13) has completed her secondment at Bruker in Bremen, Germany, which started in October 2025 under the supervision of Eduardo Carrascosa and Oliver Raether.
During her time at Bruker, Marta worked on developing an LC/MS method for epitranscriptomics analysis using a timsTOF platform. In parallel, she established a workflow for downstream data analysis. This work strengthened her expertise in mass spectrometry applied to RNA biology and contributed to advancing analytical approaches within the company.
The secondment also involved collaboration with fellow MobiliTraIN doctoral researcher Athina Maria Zoi (DC3), supporting scientific exchange and methodological development across projects within the network. In addition, Marta gained experience within the ESI-TOF Instrumentation R&D Department, where she obtained first-hand insight into instrument development and the technological processes underpinning innovation in mass spectrometry platforms. This exposure has broadened her perspective beyond academia and will support her continued research efforts.
