Welcome to the “Broadening Research Horizons: MobiliTraIN Secondments” series, where MobiliTraIN Doctoral Candidates (DCs) share their secondment experiences across different research environments. This series talks about how mobility contributes to skills development, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary training for young researchers.
Valeria Mandatelli at BAM
September – October 2025
Valeria Mandatelli (DC10) has completed her secondment at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, BAM) in Berlin, Germany, under the supervision of Dr. rer. nat. Jens Riedel. The secondment took place from September until the end of October 2025.
During this period, Valeria focused on developing a certification plan for biotechnological materials currently under development. She also worked on planning homogeneity and stability tests, in close collaboration with both internal and external partners.
The secondment provided Valeria with in-depth exposure to the certification of reference materials and offered valuable insight into a non-academic research environment. This experience has broadened her professional perspective and supports her ongoing research activities at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU).
