Dr. Niklas Geue

Freie Universität Berlin, Department of Biology, Chemistry and Pharmacy

DC1 and DC11 mentor

Niklas Geue is a postdoctoral researcher and Walter Benjamin fellow at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as a guest scientist at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. He earned his PhD in Analytical Chemistry as a President’s Doctoral Scholar at The University of Manchester (2023), where he investigated the structures and properties of metallosupramolecular complexes with advanced mass spectrometry techniques. Following a brief postdoctoral appointment in Manchester focused on ion soft-landing, he joined the group of Kevin Pagel in Berlin in 2025. His current research centers on elucidating metabolite structures and glycan fragmentation pathways using gas-phase infrared spectroscopy. In recognition of his contributions, he was named an Emerging Scientist in Analytical Sciences by the journal Analytical Science Advances (2023) and has received the Wolfgang Paul Award from the German Society for Mass Spectrometry (2025) as well as the Wilhelm Ostwald Young Talent Award from the Wilhelm Ostwald Society (2026).

“Mentoring doctoral students within the MobiliTraIN network strengthens my leadership and management skills while simultaneously pushing the frontiers of ion mobility mass spectrometry.”
